In a promising development for UK-Pakistan economic relations, Rashid Iqbal, President of the Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC), met with the UK’s newly appointed Trade Envoy to Pakistan, Mr. Mohammad Yasin MP, for an informal yet forward-looking discussion at Portcullis House, Westminster.

Accompanied by close friend and advisor Kabir Sabar, Mr. Iqbal expressed optimism about the evolving trade landscape and reaffirmed PBBC’s commitment to facilitating bilateral commerce, investment, and strategic collaboration. The meeting focused on identifying new areas of cooperation and removing barriers to trade between the two nations.

Mr. Yasin, in his new role, welcomed the input from PBBC and acknowledged the importance of leveraging diaspora-led initiatives to boost trade and economic ties. Their shared vision emphasized closer engagement, stronger institutional ties, and a renewed focus on high-growth sectors such as technology, green energy, and services.

The conversation set the stage for a formal follow-up meeting at the Department for Business and Trade, where concrete proposals will be explored to translate dialogue into action. This engagement marks an important step toward reinvigorating UK-Pakistan trade and positioning PBBC as a key partner in the journey ahead.
